Personal Information


Dr. Vercelli received her MD degree from the University of Florence in 1978 and trained in immunology at Children’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School, where in 1991 she became an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics. In 1999, she moved to the University of Arizona. Dr. Vercelli is currently a Professor of Cellular and Molecular Medicine at the University of Arizona, the Associate Director of the Arizona Respiratory Center (where she leads the Functional Genomics Laboratory), and the Director of the Arizona Center for the Biology of Complex Diseases (ABCD). She is an Associate Editor for The Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology and The Journal of Immunology and an elected member of the Association of American Physicians (AAP). Dr. Vercelli’s research focuses on the molecular, genetic and epigenetic mechanisms that regulate allergic inflammation and asthma
